In these uncertain times, Bridge Charter Academy is committed to bringing stability and connection while still fostering curiosity and love of learning.

Stability: We are implementing a virtual plan that we can commit to for this year without fear of increased pandemic numbers and ever-changing regulations. Unlike previous years, we will NOT have an on-campus cohort option but will encourage schooling at home, Zoom meetings, and parent-led activities/gatherings.

Connection: The biggest pitfall with exclusively schooling at home is maintaining secure connections with the outside world. To foster these relationships, each Learning Coordinator (the licensed teacher you have partnered with) will send out a short ànd exciting weekly activity through SeeSaw in anticipation of the weekly cohort. Students will then attend a weekly 30-minute Cohort with eight other students via Zoom. These classes are not lectures! but engaging learning activities designed to bring stability, connection, and inspire the love of learning. These meetings will have achieved their desired purpose if your child can’t wait for the next cohort Zoom meeting!

Your students cohort time will be based on the original cohort day/time you have already chosen. This year’s cohort schedules are as follows:

1. Cohort Tuesdays, Wednesdays, or Thursdays:

7th/8th grade at 9:00 am or 1:00 pm
5th/6th grade at 9:30 am or 1:30 pm
3rd/4th grade at 10:00 am or 2:00 pm
1st/2nd grade at 10:30 am or 2:30 pm
Kindergarten at 11:00 am or 3:00 pm
**High School? The high school team will reach out to you soon with the high school schedule for the year.

For example, if your 5th grader was signed up for the Thursday pm cohort, then your 30-minute cohort via Zoom would be at 1:30 pm every week.

2. In Addition to the Cohorts: One-On-One Meeting
Learning Coordinators will meet weekly one-on-one with each student via Zoom for an additional 30 minutes that you will schedule directly with your Learning Coordinator (LC). This will be a time for the LC to encourage, set goals, tutor and, simply connect with your child! Parents are also invited to attend this meeting and can even use the time to get additional support from your partner teacher.

Your Learning Coordinator will also connect with you monthly to collaborate with you concerning your child’s goals and to address any concerns or questions you may have. You are not alone!

3. Parent Meet-ups and Activities
BCA will also be posting parent organized meet-ups and activities for those who would love in-person interaction. If you have an excellent idea for a meet-up, please communicate it with us! Not only are we at the BCA open to advertising these events, but we are excited to also financially support creative ideas in order to see them take life.

Inspiring Curiosity and the Love of Learning: Along with engaging cohorts, we will be offering a variety of optional Zoom extracurricular class/activities led by BCA staff, students and community volunteers. Some of these options will be weekly (ex. Japanese, cooking and music lessons) and others will be one-off classes throughout the year (ex. how to solve the Rubik’s Cube, origami and Lego building challenges). The possibilities are endless! In addition, we will also be offering classes for parents in order to train, refresh and inspire. Each week the BCA will post the activity schedule for the week. There is no need to sign-up and no obligation to participate.

We understand that many families are not thrilled with the virtual learning option this year. Yet, if we can pool our resources and creativity, I believe this could be the best year BCA has experienced in its five-year history.
